Retreat Buyout: The Whole of BaliBala for Your Group

BaliBala is four private stays in one pocket of jungle: three luxury safari tents and one award-winning house, sharing the same gardens and the same walk to Playa Matapalo. Taken together, as a retreat buyout, they could give a group of up to 19 all four stays and the gardens between them, if the hosts can line up the dates.

No buyout rates or terms are published here. Each stay is listed on Airbnb, and the hosts are the people to ask about combining all four. This page explains what you would be combining, and who tends to fit where.

What a whole-property stay looks like

Seen from the air, the layout makes sense. The safari tents sit in their own clearings, the No-Footprint House stands behind its own gate, gardens run between them, and the Pacific is a short walk through the trees. Everything is private, and nothing is far from anything.

The numbers are simple. The house sleeps 4 across two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. Each of the three tents sleeps 5 across two lockable bedrooms, a king, a queen and a high twin, with two open-air hot-water showers. That is eight bedrooms and eight bathrooms, and every stay has its own fully equipped kitchen, so a group can cook together in one place or scatter to four.

Three of the four stays have a private pool: the house inside a fully fenced garden, the two pool tents with a deep plunge pool built into the deck. The Hideaway has no pool, and that is its point.

Who fits where

A buyout is really a question of allocation, and the four stays have distinct personalities. The No-Footprint House is the one for whoever wants their own front door: a private entrance, a separate gate, private parking and a fully fenced garden around its pool. It is also one of the two stays that take children under 10, along with the Hideaway, though adults still need to supervise children around the pool, and generally.

The two pool tents suit couples, friends and families with older children. Children under 10 are not permitted in these units: the pool is deep and unfenced. Younger children in the group belong in the Safari Tent Hideaway, the same tent without a pool, or in the No-Footprint House with its fully fenced garden. Always confirm current house rules on Airbnb before booking.

The Safari Tent Hideaway is the quietest of the three tents, with garden on every side and no pool to share the space with. Give it to the early risers, the readers, or the person who came to hear birds. It sits in open jungle like the rest of BaliBala, so it is not a childproof environment either.

Gathering, quietly

None of the four stays accepts parties or events, and sound travels easily in open-air buildings, so a retreat at BaliBala is a quiet one: a circle of friends, a multi-family trip, a small group that wants to cook, swim, walk the beach and rest. That is what most people come for.

Each tent has an outdoor dining area and outdoor kitchen, and the house has a long dining table open to the garden. Ask ahead and the hosts will arrange breakfast at your stay. Two restaurants and a small supermarket are within walking distance, and the hosts can help with restaurant tables further afield.

One guest, Raquel, put it simply: "Fully equipped, we felt at home, but disconnected from our screens." For a retreat, that is close to the whole brief.

Days out, together or apart

The southern coast rewards a group that splits up. Some can spend the day on Playa Matapalo, a long stretch of Pacific sand with natural shade that guests regularly report having almost to themselves; beach towels and chairs are provided. The surf is open ocean and strong at times, so it is a beach for walking, playing on the sand and supervised paddling, with swimming judged day by day.

Others can drive. Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio is about a 50-minute drive north along the coastal road. Dominical, the surf town, is a short drive south, with Nauyaca Waterfalls inland from it, and Uvita and the Whale's Tail sandbar lie further along the same road. Corcovado is a full day trip: roughly 1.5 hours to Sierpe, where the boats leave, then down the mangrove river with a licensed guide, booked ahead.

For surf lessons, horseback riding, ziplining, kayaking and transport, the hosts connect guests with trusted local providers, so your stay helps support the community around Playa Matapalo. A car is recommended; public transport is not available. Back at the property, monkeys and macaws are frequently seen from the decks, none of it scheduled.

How to ask about a buyout

Reservations run through Airbnb, and each stay has its own listing. This site publishes no prices, availability, minimum stays or buyout terms. The honest route is a message to the hosts: tell them who is coming, when, and the ages of any children, and they will reply with advice on how the four stays might be shared out for your dates.

BaliBala is hosted by Linda, an Airbnb Superhost. Across 37 Airbnb reviews the hosting averages 4.89 out of 5 (as of Aug 2026), and arrival is always personal: you will be welcomed by Linda or Flory, our local host.
